Tóm tắt
Modern roundabouts are commonly implemented at urban junctions in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Like many other Southeast Asian countries, motorcycles have a great portion of traffic flow. Therefore, road traffic condition are different compared to developed countries. The most effective instruments for the analysis and management of urban transport systems are traffic simulation models. Complex traffic sites are modeled using these technologies, especially at roundabouts, to simulate traffic behaviors and applications in reality. The two microsimulation software applications used in this study are VISSIM and SIDRA to develop a simulation model of a roundabout and compare between these models. A case study was obtained at a roundabout in Ho Chi Minh City under a motocycle dominated environment. The data used in this paper are traffic volumes at each approach street and queue length, as well as vehicle delay time, in order to evaluate the roundabout level of service. The features and evaluation findings of roundabouts were studied in terms of operational simplicity and output inaccuracy. This study has provided references for simulation software selection in a dominated motorcycle environment.
